If you were the resident cat at a veterinary clinic, you would encounter various animals each day. Fortunately, avoiding the ones you find intimidating is easy as these creatures come and go. However, when a veterinarian brings their giant dog to work, they are there for the duration.

It seems that this Great Dane was not on the clinic cat’s approved visitor list. Based on this expression, it must have made for a very long day.

Check out the priceless reaction in a video from August 30th:

Talk about a tough day at the office! Poor Puddle isn’t pleased to see this great Dane invading the workplace. To avoid this foe, this gorgeous cat sought cover in the sink. LOL! But, if this big dog wanted to harass North Oakville Animal Hospital (@ northoakvillevet ) resident feline, they would be tall enough to do it. Fortunately, this breed is well known for being gentle giants, so while Puddle may not like it, it’s doubtful this beautiful dog would cause any harm. Given this dashing Dane is a veterinarian’s dog, they’ve also likely been exposed to and socialized with many animals since puppyhood; however, based on the position of those ears, this cautious kitty will still not be taking any chances. That seems fair, considering this dog is the size of a pony. But someone might want to watch the dog to ensure safety from the unhappy cat.

Are Great Danes Good with Cats?

Great Danes generally get along well with cats, but like all dogs, this can depend on their early socialization , temperament, and training. Despite being large, they have friendly personalities and a calm nature, making them splendid companions for cats and other dogs. It’s important to have a controlled and supervised environment when introducing cats or dogs to each other for the first time. Even if animals are the same size, monitoring new interactions and ensuring both are comfortable is always essential.

This funny encounter amused people. One person responded, “Oh dear, helicopter ears and a raised observation point. I hope someone was able to save the pony!” Ha! I would also be more fearful of this cat than the dog. Viewer @mrs.spinuzzi remarked, “As a parent of two horses, I can confirm the kitties either hide or attack. Or both. Usually both.” That’s always been my experience. Viewer @eddie.edavis reported, “Our tiny cats grew up with our Great Danes, so they cuddle sometimes, and the size difference is so goofy.” It’s always entertaining to see animals with such significant size discrepancies acting like they’re the same.

Hopefully, the rest of the day went without a hitch. Who knows? Before long, these two might just become office snuggle buddies.
