Golden Retriever's Excitement Over Brand New House Is Too Cute to Resist

Moving is stressful enough when everything goes perfectly smoothly, but moving with a pet (or multiple pets) is a whole different ballgame! Some pets are totally adaptable and will be happy living anywhere, as long as they have their human and their familiar stuff, like their bed and toys, just like always. Others require more of an adjustment period, not to mention the fact that witnessing the packing and unpacking process and the disruption in their daily routine can be a bit anxiety inducing for many pups.

But the sweet Golden Retriever in this TikTok video? He's handling it all better than anyone could have expected. In fact, he seems downright giddy to finally have the chance to check out his brand new house for the very first time.

On Sunday, September 15, @iambobthedog shared what happened when their Golden Retriever , Bob, got to explore his new house for the first time, and it's like it clicked as soon as he walked through the door — he knew in his heart that this was home.

Bob came bounding into the house, tail wagging, head looking in all directions like he didn't know where to start first.

It may have helped that they'd already moved in some of their furniture and clothes, so it was probably easy for Bob to recognize that stuff from his old house was there and it's where he and his humans would be staying.

A big reason why he was immediately comfortable there? In the caption, his parents explained that he was a big factor in the house they chose. "We literally had his needs in mind during the entire search process. We're that couple, and no shame in our game!" they wrote.

It looks like that really did pay off, because Bob doesn't appear to be wasting any time making himself at home.

How to Help Make a Move Easier on Your Dog

Moving into a new home is a huge transition for many dogs, but there are a few things you can do to prepare to help make it all go a bit more smoothly.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) recommends doing the bulk of your packing while your dog is out of sight , like in another room or asleep. Seeing you put your stuff into boxes can give them anxiety since they don't quite understand what's happening. It also helps to keep a positive attitude around them; if you're upbeat, they'll know the change they sense is coming will be a positive one for them.

Once you're in the new place, you may want to give them a blanket or a t-shirt that still smells like you and your old home to bring them comfort as they adjust, and keep as close to their normal routine as you can. It can't hurt to provide extra treats along the way, either; again, it's all about showing that this is a good thing!

Above all, try to remain patient — a tall order during a stressful, chaotic life change, I know. If things are rocky when you first move in, give it time. Your dog will adjust, they might just need an extra minute to breathe!
