Basset Hound Puppy Has the Sweetest Nanny in the Form of His Ginger Cat Sibling

There's nothing better than a good snuggle. It's even better if it's with the one you love most. Beau, the Basset Hound puppy, is finding this to be true because he has the best sitter in cat resident Mufasa, and they're a match made in heaven!

In a sugary sweet video posted on TikTok by @beaubasset , the tiny, sleepy boy is having a fantastic slumber, complete with his very own nanny taking the night shift to keep watch over him. After all, he's precious cargo! Take a look at their blossoming friendship!

"Mufasa is determined to be besties with Beau," the caption reads. The orange cat very carefully steps over Beau as he sleeps in his crated dog bed to find a good spot just behind the pup. Positioning is everything, but once the feline curls up, he keeps a good eye on Beau to make sure he's sleeping well.

Though the little Basset Hound has only been a part of Mufasa's life a short time, the two have already had quite a time getting to know one another. From one of their first interactions caught on video that shows Mufasa unsure of the new family member all the way to now. This is the duo you never knew you needed in your life and theyre getting closer by the day!

"Rommate," one person said. "Aww so sweet!" another added. "So cute," another wrote.

Beau is in good hands—er, paws—thanks to Mufasa's devotion to the job. Give him a raise!

Cats and Puppies Can Live in Harmony

Though there are a lot of preconceived notions about cats and dogs not getting along, rest assured, it can happen. The American Kennel Club has a few tips on how to make sure your resident feline takes to the new puppy without a hitch.

Don't rush their introduction. By giving each their space to adjust, they'll likely come around on their own. And definitely don't force it, especially if the cat's had the run of the house. It's also a good idea to keep them apart unless supervised and when they do interact, keep it short and sweet. All other times, keep the puppy behind a gate so the cat can come and go, adjusting at his or her leisure for the first couple of days.

Teach your puppy basic commands so they won't chase the cat. This might be tricky if the puppy is too young, but at least start building the foundation by using praise and high-value rewards like treats.

Also, praise and reward your cat every time the interaction with the new puppy goes is going well so they begin to associate good things with being around the new addition. Take Beau and Mufasa's lead and be patient. They'll be friends in no time!
