Mom's Way of Ensuring People Aren't Scared of Her Staffordshire Terrier Is Just Too Sweet

It's hard to really know the personality of any given dog breed out there until you've spent enough time with a pup who belongs to it yourself, but that doesn't stop people from forming their own misconceptions about certain breeds, and in some cases, those misconceptions can be harmful. This seems to be particularly true when it comes to the breeds that some consider "dangerous" or scary. Think big dogs, like Rottweilers, and basically any kind of Bully breed. They may make good guard dogs, but they can also be totally gentle sweethearts.

As someone who has raised two Pit Bull mixes and knows firsthand just how sweet they can be, it really irks me when people haven't learned not to read a book by its cover. One Bully mom on TikTok seems to feel the same way as I do, but she's found a pretty creative way to shut down the stereotype.

On Monday, September 16, @landonthestaffy shared this video of what it looks like to go on a walk with her Staffordshire Terrier, Landon, now that she's taught him a new (and very adorable) trick.

In the video, she wrote, "teaching your Bully breed to carry his toy on walks so people aren't scared of him."

Sure enough, there goes Landon walking down the hallway on his leash, monster toy in his mouth. This can't possibly be a dog who people would be afraid of, right? He is the opposite of intimidating — especially while carrying that toy. His mom was right on the money when it comes to making him look approachable!

Still, she wrote in her caption that people ask if he bites anyway. As long as you're not a monster-shaped stuffie, you should be good.

Landon is too cute. Who wouldn't want to see this guy walk by with his toy?

    Are Staffordshire Terriers Scary?

Hopefully, this video showed you that Bully breeds like the one Landon belongs to aren't scary by default — just like any other dog breed in the world, these pups can be trained and socialized to be such loving companions to their humans.

As Wag points out, Staffordshire Terriers may appear a bit scary at first, due to their size and the fact that they have been bred to fight in the past. And while it may be recommended for more experienced dog owners to take these pups on, there's absolutely no reason that without the proper care and time invested, they can't be sweet family dogs.

Be warned that they do have a lot of energy, though, so those walks are going to have to be a regular thing — with or without the toy like Landon's.

I had 8 of these dogs and I loved them to death! My dogs were well behaved and they were never aggressive towards any one! They sleep with me and my kids! I would choose a pitbull over a human any time! Any dog can be aggressive and attack it's in their nature! All dogs are protective of their family and house! Dogs are a better judge of character than actual people are! Look at all the mothers that killed their own family and they use mental illness as to why they did it! But never showed signs before hand! I trust a pitbull over a human! Mine lets me and my husband know when I'm about to have a seizure and when I get really bad migraines he doesn't leave my side! People really need to get their facts right!! I love 🥰 my pity and I'd choose him over a human any day in a heartbeat!
