Cat's Confusion Over Mom Getting a Haircut Is Hilariously Unhinged

A cat is very confused when their mom gets home after a haircut. She apparently looks so different that the sweet cat doesn't recognize her.

On September 12, 2024, TikTok user Pais Leah (@paisleah90) shared a video of how their cat reacted when they got home after a haircut. Take a look!

In a quick video, we meet a cat who is very confused because mom doesn't look like mom typically does.

The video's text reads, "POV: You chop off 10," and your cat doesn't recognize you.

And in the short clip, the adorable cat is very, very confused.

Upon seeing their mom, cat acts like it's a stranger who has entered their home.

"Are you OK?" Mom asks her cat, who meows a quick sound that sounds like "no."

"It's OK, I just got a haircut, I promise," Mom tries to reassure the scared cat , who doesn't seem to recognize her mom with her new hair look.

The sweet cat doesn't seem to understand that it's still Mom, but she looks different. It's cute that she answers when Mom asks if she's OK, but her eyes looking up and her body language say she's still a little scared.

Of course, this sweet cat may not normally be anxious or scared but it's clear in this video that she's got some anxiety or fear given how she's responded to her mama and her new haircut. But if you have a cat who is anxious or scared, there are some ways you can help.

According to PetMD , there are three great tips to follow if your cat is anxious or scared.

First, you should try to comfort your cat if they're scared or anxious. "When your cat is having a moderate or severe fear response, it is okay to attempt to comfort or soothe your cat," the experts share. "This does not 'reward' the fearful behavior, contrary to popular belief."

Another tip is to avoid confining your cat. "Don’t try to put your cat into a carrier when they are anxious, as not all cats calm down when crated," PetMD writes. Instead, it may have the opposite intended reaction.

And you should also never punish your cat for feeling anxious or scared. The experts warn that doing so can " lead to aggression toward the person administering the punishment. This includes techniques like yelling at and squirting your cat with a water bottle."
