No matter how excited you are to take off and enjoy a well-deserved vacation, it's also bittersweet leaving your best furry friend behind at home. Thankfully, as many popular hotel chains are increasingly embracing pet-friendly policies, pet parents are no longer forced to choose between their travel aspirations and their dogs !

According to Dogster , around 75% of luxury, mid-scale, and economy hotels allow pets . That's promising news for four-legged travelers! However, some of these hotels do more to welcome pet guests than others. We've compiled a list of 22 of the most dog-friendly hotels in the U.S., from budget stays to luxury boutiques! While these hotel brands welcome furry friends with open paws, pet parents should still call ahead to guarantee the availability of pet-friendly rooms and to double-check certain policies before checking in. Some hotels might be listed as pet-friendly but in reality only allow service dogs, so it's always best to call ahead and clarify.

    Dog-Friendly Motels and Economy Hotels

When you're working with a tight travel budget, finding a pet-friendly hotel is stressful, especially when you're trying to dodge uber-expensive pet fees. With these lower-budget hotels, you shouldn't have any trouble finding a dog-friendly room that's easy on your wallet!

    Motel 6

Motel 6 openly welcomes well-behaved cats and dogs at all of their 1,400+ locations across the United States, free of charge! While Motel 6 doesn't charge pet fees, they do impose a limit of two pets per room, with a combined weight limit of no more than 150 pounds.

    Red Roof

Red Roof also has a very lenient pet policy. All locations welcome cats and dogs, though they also have a limit of two pets per room with a weight limit of 80 pounds per animal. If you're only bringing one pet along, you don't have to worry about a pet fee. However, a second pet in the room will cost you $15 per night (as will any additional pets if allowed with managerial approval), not to exceed $105 maximum over a 7+ night stay.

    Best Western

There are currently more than 1,200 Best Western hotels across North America that welcome dogs (two per room), and many of them will also allow cats, birds, and other small animals at their discretion. There is a weight limit of 80 pounds per animal. Though policies vary by location, some charge a $30 daily pet fee, or $150 maximum for a week's stay.

    Choice Hotels

Choice Hotels is a major hotel chain that owns a number of popular economy hotel brands including Country Inn & Suites, Comfort Inn, and Econo Lodge. Altogether, Choice Hotels operates over 3,500 dog-friendly locations across the U.S. Though specific policies vary by brand and location, you can expect the standard two-pet-per-room limit, with nightly pet fees varying from $10-$75.

    La Quinta by Wyndham

This Wyndham-owned mid-tier chain hotel allows dogs at most of its locations, with the few non-pet-friendly exceptions listed on their pet policy page . Two domestic pets (dogs or cats) are allowed per room, with each property setting its own size restrictions. Depending on the location, you may get charged a pet fee of $20 per night maximum, not to exceed $40 over a two-night stay.

    Extended Stay America

If you're looking for a budget-friendly, pet-friendly extended stay hotel, Extended Stay America is a great choice. However, the typical "two a room" limit applies, and pets have to be no more than 36" long and 36" tall (though according to ESA, some locations may allow large dogs or more than two a room pending managerial approval). They charge a $25 (+ tax) per day, per pet non-refundable cleaning fee for the first six nights, after which the fee drops to $10 a day per pet.

    Mid-Scale Dog-Friendly Hotels

We're a step up from ultra-low-budget, but not quite in the big leagues yet. You can expect more amenities and slightly more upscale accommodations at these dog-friendly hotels, but the nightly rates (and pet fees) are still achieveable for the average traveler working within a modest budget.

    Hampton Inn by Hilton

Hampton has an impressive pet-friendly portfolio, with more than 2,400 of its locations allowing dogs, according to Bring Fido . Most of these locations have designated pet-relief areas, and some select locales even have treats or other perks for furry friends. Policies and weight restrictions vary by property, and according to Bring Fido , pet fees can range from totally gratis to $75 a night, so check ahead!

    Drury Hotels

Drury Hotels welcomes dogs and cats at all locations, with a few guidelines in place. No more than two pets are allowed per room, and their combined weight can't exceed 80 pounds. The chain also charges a minimum daily pet fee of $50, though certain locations may charge more at their discretion.

    Staybridge Suites by IHG

You can't go wrong with Staybridge Suites , as all of their U.S. locations are pet-friendly. Size limits and pet fees vary by property, but they do have some general rules for all their locations. Dogs must be walked on a leash in designated walk areas, and a "Pet in Suite" magnet must be displayed on your suite door at all times. However, you are allowed to leave your pet unattended in the suite, as long as you are on the hotel premises - otherwise, they need to go into a crate or pet carrier.

    Fairfield Inn by Marriott

According to Bring Fido , Fairfield Inn has been expanding their portfolio of pet-friendly stays, with more than 200 locations now welcoming pets. Some of these pet-welcoming hotels even offer additional amenities like designated walking and relief areas, waste bags, and tasty treats. While - you guessed it - policies and fees vary by location, Trips With Pets claims that Fairfield pet fees tend to sit within a range of $25-$75 per stay .

    Aloft by Marriott

Yet another pet-friendly Marriott brand! The boutique Aloft brand currently operates more than 130 pet-friendly locations worldwide. Aloft is notable for offering its canine guests a number of perks via the ARF (Animals R Fun) Program at its pet-friendly hotels. According to Buzzfeed journalist Raven Ishek, who recently got to try out the program at Aloft's Chelsea location in NYC, ARF is included in the standard $50 pet fee and includes amenities like a bed, food bowls, and a special dog toy so you and your pawesome pal can get your game on!

    Embassy Suites by Hilton

Embassy Suites currently has 245 pet-friendly locations listed in their portfolio. While they don't have a universal pet policy listed online, Bring Fido reports that Embassy typically allows two pets weighing up to 75 pounds , with fees ranging from $25 per pet per night to $200 per stay.

    SpringHill Suites by Marriott

Another Marriott brand, SpringHill Suites currently operates over 100 dog-friendly hotels (many of them also welcoming cats), according to Bring Fido . Fees and weight restrictions vary (though $25-$125 per stay seems standard), but most pet-friendly locations offer extra perks like designated pet relief areas, treats, and food bowls.

    Upper Mid-Scale Dog-Friendly Hotels

While we're not in the realm of luxury hotels yet, you can start to expect a more premium experience, often with extra amenities beyond free continental breakfast and a swimming pool. Both you and your four-legged companions can enjoy the swanky perks of staying at these hotels!

    Home2Suites by Hilton

Homes2Suites offers trendy, contemporary extended stay accommodations, with more than 660 pet-friendly locations across the U.S. and Canada. Pet fees and policies vary by location, but according to Bring Fido , they'll typically range from $75-$150 per stay . Additionally, a lot of their pet-friendly locations have fun additional perks like walking trails, pet relief areas, and treats at check-in!

    Hyatt Place

Hyatt Place's pet-friendly hotels gladly accommodate two well-behaved household pets per room, and they offer established dog walk areas with waste bags on site. Each pet has a maximum weight limit of 50 pounds, and the combined weight of two pets in a room cannot exceed 75 pounds. Guests staying 1-6 nights will be charged a $75 pet fee, and guests staying 7-30 nights will be charged the same fee plus an additional $100 cleaning fee.

    Westin by Marriott

Most (though not all) Westin hotels are pet-friendly, and they really know how to spoil their four-legged guests! According to Trips With Pets , Westin Hotels are known for " rolling out the red carpet " for pets with customized pet beds, doggie welcome kits at check-in, and tons of other exclusive pet amenities like ID tags, floor mats, food bowls, and more!

As for specific policies, that can vary widely. Some Westin hotels impose a 50-pound weight limit, while others don't. Some don't charge any pet fees at all, while others do. The best thing to do is to call ahead and check. Nevertheless, if the Westin you're staying at is pet friendly, your pup can expect to enjoy a pretty swanky experience!

Boutique Stays and Luxury Dog-Friendly Hotels

Now, we've hit the big time. Some of these are ultra-luxurious high-end hotel brands, while others offer a more personalized boutique experience to set themselves apart from the usual chain fare. No matter where you stay, these brands will treat both you and your pet like royalty!

    Graduate Hotels

Graduate Hotels specializes in boutique hotels located in college towns across the U.S. and the U.K. Though they're a bit more "no frills" with pet amenities than the other boutique hotels on this list, their pet policy isn't hard to follow. All of their locations are pet friendly, allowing a maximum of two pets per room and charging a flat $75 pet fee per stay!

    Staypineapple

Staypineapple is a collection of 10 trendy boutique hotels across the US, all of which are pet-friendly - no weight restrictions! They have won multiple awards for their pet-friendly policies, most recently Good Housekeeping 's "2024 Most Pet-Friendly Hotel Brand" award.

As if that wasn't enough, they also offer a special "Pineapple Pup Package" that includes perks like a special dog bed for use during your stay, a tin of treats, a collapsible water bowl that's yours to take home, and 50% off your regular pet fee, which is normally $29.95 per day. When it comes to a great pet-friendly boutique experience, Staypineapple takes the (pineapple upside-down) cake!

    Kimpton

Kimpton Hotels is another popular boutique brand with a passion for pets and a no-fuss policy across all locations. Kimpton invites guests to bring their "furry, feathery, or scaly family member[s]," free of charge and with no limits on breed, weight, size, or number. It's that simple.

On top of their stress-free pet policy, Kimpton offers a selection of pet amenities including pet bed loaners, food and water bowls, waste bags, and floor mats, plus a concierge list of local pet-friendly shops, restaurants, and more. Some Kimpton Hotels even have a special four-legged Director of Pet Relations to welcome you and your wild family "with a tail wag!"

    Loews

More than 20 Loews Hotels locations are currently listed as "pet-friendly" by Bring Fido. These pet-friendly locations make up the majority of Loews' portfolio, and they do a great job of welcoming its furry guests with their " Loews Loves Pets " amenities, which include waste bags and litter boxes, pet beds, food and water bowls, leashes, and - get this - a gourmet room service menu with selections specifically developed for dogs and cats to enjoy. Policies and fees vary by location, but all of them impose a two-per-room limit, along with requiring up-to-date vaccinations.

    Ritz-Carlton by Marriott

Dreaming of "puttin' on the Ritz" with your pup? Though not all Ritz-Carlton locations worldwide are pet-friendly, the ones that are spoil their four-legged guests just as much as their human ones. A few pooch-friendly highlights include:

The Ritz-Carlton NYC, Central Park : Both cats and dogs weighing less than 60 pounds are welcome at the swanky NYC hotel, where they're spoiled with a selection of special treats, along with other must-have pet amenities like food bowls and a cushy pet bed. You can also book dog walking services so you can take a break while Fido gets his steps in!

The Ritz-Carlton Miami, Bal Harbor : Another tropical getaway with a dog-friendly room service menu, this Ritz-Carlton also has a doggy day camp, grooming, overnight boarding, and other amenities for pets and pet parents alike!

    Four Seasons

Considering that Four Seasons resorts were used as the filming locations for both Seasons 1 and 2 of The White Lotus , it's hard to argue that the Four Seasons brand is anything but the epitome of hotel luxury. Turns out, they're pretty pet-friendly, too, with many (though not all) locations readily welcoming dogs, and sometimes other pets as well depending on location policy. A few particular highlights include:

Beverly Wilshire, a Four Seasons Hotel : Located in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, this hotel is a pet paradise! The Beverly Wilshire offers four-legged guests a dedicated room service menu, in-room amenities like a branded pet bed and water bowls, and a concierge to help with booking pet sitters and obtaining pet supplies. There's also tons of fantastic nearby parks for walkies!

Four Seasons Hotel Austin : Dogs, cats, and other domesticated pets are invited to enjoy complimentary in-room amenities (including cute Four Seasons-branded bandanas) and a dedicated room service menu, though they're also welcome to dine on the outdoor patio at Ciclo, the hotel's modern American fusion restaurant. Four Seasons Austin also has several acres of manicured lakefront land with miles of hiking trails that leashed pets are welcome to explore!
