Golden Retriever's Sweet Welcome for Elderly Dog Neighbor Is Giving People the Feels

Moving into a new neighborhood can be a little bit terrifying. You don't know anyone there, and you'll spend a while trying to figure out the general vibe of the place. Are your neighbors the keep to themselves kind? Do they love to have those traveling dinner parties?

Apparently, humans aren't the only ones who have it a little rough when it comes to making friends in a new neighborhood. For a couple of pups on Tuesday, September 24th, though, finding a friend was as easy as breathing:

Owen moved in next door and Caamp is obsessed with him. We noticed a gap in the vines on the fence recently. Found the culprit. 🥹

Caamp the Golden Retriever is the sweetest neighbor ever. What a great way to kick off the welcome wagon!

Caamp was the resident dog here: he's lived in this neighborhood for a while, if not his whole life. He knows everything that goes on there, so he was one of the first to learn that a new neighbor, a senior pup by the name of Owen, had moved in next door. There was one problem, though: vines were covering the fence, preventing them from seeing each other. Not a problem: they both tore them down in one spot!

Since this video, Owen and Caamp have met, and it went about as well as can be expected: Caamp, the eager beaver Golden Retriever, wanted to play. Owen, the old man, wanted to chill. They got along great, but I think Owen is definitely okay with there being a fence between him and Caamp most of the time!

Dogs Are Great For Making Friends With Neighbors

If you're moving to a new place and you have a hard time making friends, getting a dog is legitimately a good way to start. If you go with a common breed, like a Golden, people will stop you to reminisce about similar pups they've no doubt encountered. Alternatively, choosing a more obscure breed will get people to stop and ask questions.

There are a lot of ways for dog parents to make friends in the neighborhood that those without dogs might not have. They're things like:

    1. "Dog parties" organized by the neighborhood mom friend.
    2. Dog parks that you'll see some neighbors frequent.
    3. Local Facebook Groups for dog parents.
    4. Dogs getting together and eating a hole in the fence so they could hang out.

Luckily, Owen and Caamp weren't the only ones who made friends on this journey. Now, their parents have something to bond over, too! What a couple of good boys!
