Black Labrador's Fascination with Church Bells Feels Like a Fairytale Moment

There's no telling what kinds of sounds are going to have your dog positively enchanted. It could be something simple like a siren, or something more unconventional, like a song. Any sound can pique a dog's interest at any time.

Apparently, that includes a chorus of church bells. Recently, one mom who lives near a church took to TikTok to share all about her sweet Black Labrador Retriever's obsession with the sound, and we just can't get enough:

According to a comment made by @lillyannad a few days after the TikTok was posted, she actually used to hate the bells. Now they make her happy... I wonder why that could be!

This gorgeous boy's name is Finny, and he seems to be the center of his mom's life. Even before he went viral for his love of the church bells, she was posting about him. One of his other favorite things to do is go back to a specific spot in a river where he lost his favorite ball and see if he can find it again. No matter how many times Lilly tells him that was years ago, he's not giving in!

Above all else, though, Finny is a howler. She says he howls at anything, which we can clearly see with the church bells. Funnily enough, she posted a follow-up video of him howling along to the video of him howling along to the church bells. That takes some serious skill, my friend!

What Noises Trigger Howling in Dogs?

Though some breeds are more known for their howling than others, any dog can howl. For example, I've got a trio of Boston Terriers who I genuinely believe could put Huskies' howls to shame. All it takes is one dog learning how: the whole house will pick it up. Even you, sometimes.

If you want to try to get your dog to howl, there are a few noises that usually get them going:

    1. Sirens of any kind.
    2. Beeps, like the ones from severe weather warnings on TV.
    3. Other dogs howling, either on video or in person.
    4. Some music (usually piano).
    5. Humans howling.

If you look at your dog and start howling, you have about a 50/50 chance that they howl back at you, especially if they're a puppy. Just try to keep things calm and low: don't screech or play high-pitched notes. While they may succeed in getting pups to howl, those kinds of noises can also be painful for them!
