Sphynx Cat Siblings Fighting Over Rights to Cat Condo Are a Force to Be Reckoned With

Two sibling Sphynx cats fight over the rights to the bucket seat in the cat condo, and it is the definition of a sibling spat.

On September 16, 2024, Simon and Cat Sphynx (@simonandcatsphynx) shared a video of the sibling Sphynx cats fighting over the basket seat on their cat tree, and it's kinda funny. Take a look!

In the video shared on Instagram, Simon, the older black Sphynx , and Cat, the smaller grey cat, are already mid-fight.

Mom grabs the camera and walks over to the two siblings sitting in the cat tree's basket seat and fighting.

"Fighting over who gets to sit in the basket," the text on the screen reads. While walking to her cats who are fighting, the cat mom tries to encourage the two cats to stop the arguing, and to get Simon to back up since Cat was in the seat first.

They stop briefly before jumping back to the battle to win the basket seat, only to stop again when their mom gets close.

Since Cat was there first, she asked Simon to get down, and she didn't want anyone to get hurt. It sounded like—briefly—they were going to listen. But siblings, when they're spatting, kind of go into their own world. And that's what they did.

"Just typical sibling things," mom wrote in the video's caption. "Simon didn’t care about the basket for the longest time until we got Cat, and she used it all the time."

How many of us have experienced something similar with our pets (or kids)? It seems pretty universal.

"And yes, I didn’t break up the fight! Simon is still larger than Cat, and I never want to see her get hurt badly," the mom added.

In the comments, people shared their experiences with cat siblings who get along but not always. They also commented on the hairless cats because it's a little extra funny when there's no fur.

Interesting Facts About a Sphynx Cat

They don't look like the typical housecat, but that's why they're so loved, too. Sphynx cats are sometimes called "hairless" because they have no obvious fur covering their wrinkled skin.

They tend to have interesting proportions, too, with big ears, big eyes, and a small jaw. Their striking appearance intrigues many people.

According to ASPCA Pet Insurance , Sphynx cats used to be called "Canadian Hairless" since they were the only breed of cat to come from Canada initially. The site explains that they're pretty medium or average size for a cat, somewhere in the six to 12-pound range.

"Of course, one of the most remarkable aspects of a Sphynx is their smooth, hairless appearance," the experts note. "In reality, they are covered in very fine fur that makes them feel like warm suede."

Although they don't have typical fur, these cats come in various colors and patterns, ASPCA Pet Insurance shares. These kitties still exhibit all the glorious color and pattern variations that other breeds do, including white, black, red, tabby, calico, lavender, chocolate, and tortoiseshell.

And despite their sometimes odd look, they're really sweet and playful. "You’ll be hard-pressed to find a friendlier cat than a Sphynx. They get along well with children and other pet pals – including pups – and even make great therapy cats because they don’t mind being handled," the experts share.

These cats love attention and love being around those they love. Just maybe not always the best at sharing their favorite seat.
