Doodle Eating Straight Out of Countertop Crockpot Looks Just Like a Hungry Human

There's nothing worse than when you come back from doing something to find your dog eating all of your food. It's a canon event we all go through: at least once, we're going to get sloppy. We're going to leave something in reach, and it's our fault that we lose it.

Some dogs are willing to go farther than others, though. Just look at this video from Saturday, September 21st, when a woman's Golden Doodle got caught eating straight out of the crockpot:

I love that @kelseyhawkins3 calls her dog "Kevin McAllister" when he gets in trouble. It makes me feel like I missed out naming my dogs!

Kevin McAllister is generally a well-behaved dog. He knows all the basic commands and spends a lot of time doing whatever he thinks will make mom happy. It's what he lives for... unless there's food around.

Kev is a Standard Golden Doodle, meaning he's a cross between a Standard Poodle and a Golden Retriever. Standard Doodles of any kind are much bigger than you might think they are: they weigh up to 75 pounds full-grown. Standing on his hind legs, Kevin has no problem sticking his face in the crockpot. It's a little bit terrifying.

How to Keep Big Dogs Off Counters

When you have big dogs, keeping them out of your things is significantly harder than when they're little. They can access more. Whereas your little dog might need to pull off a few miracles to eat straight out of a crockpot on your counter, your big dog can do it with ease.

The most important thing to remember is that good training is the foundation for preventing your pup from doing things you don't want them to do. However, even the best-behaved dogs in the world have moments of weakness, which is why extra precautions can be a lifesaver. If your dog isn't a regular counter-surfer and you catch them in the middle of a one-time act, tell them to get down and remove them from the kitchen.

If you dog is frequently surfing the counters for food:

    1. Consolidate all your food placement to one section of the counter.
    2. Put tinfoil there.
    3. Alternatively, you could use tap or cling wrap.
    4. Keep everything as close to the wall as you can to try to prevent them reaching it.

Unfortunately, our dogs are too smart for even that sometimes, and that's when it's time to find a way to block them out of the kitchen entirely. Kevin better be careful, or he might soon be home alone in his crate while mom is cooking dinner!
