Mom Trains Her Goldendoodle to Give Her 'Human Cuddles' When She Gets Home From Work

I've said it before but I will always say it again, because it's so true: one of the absolute best parts of being a dog mom is the greeting I get when I come home at the end of the day. Sure, my kid is always happy to see me, and my cats will stop by for pets if they happen to be near the entrance to our house. But my dog? She's the one putting in the effort and the enthusiasm that I need, and that's something I'm convinced only dogs are capable of. When I pull into the driveway and get out of the car, it's her face pressed up against the window at the front door, tail already wagging before I've even had the chance to pull out my house key.

I am not the only dog mom who feels that way, and one Goldendoodle mom decided to take those end of the day greetings just a step further and train her dog to do the one thing that's usually reserved for humans: Giving hugs.

Australia-based dog mom @isabellasdunne shared this video to show what happens when she gets home from work now that she's trained her adorable Goldendoodle pup (also known as a Groodle, which is the name the OP uses for the breed) to give hugs.

"POV: You teach your dog human cuddles for when you get home from work every day," she wrote in the video.

Her dog, whose name is Fletcher, is lounging on the bed when she walks in, and as soon as he sees her, he springs into action, tail wagging. Sure enough, he stands up on the bed and gives her cuddles, which include a hug with both of his front legs as if he's giving her a human hug. Amazing!

It's hard to imagine a warmer welcome than this one!

    Goldendoodles Are Big Huggers

For the most part, dogs aren't huge fans of hugs — while humans love them, a lot of the time, dogs feel that they are being restrained or "dominated" and it stresses them out.

But Goldendoodles like Fletcher seem to be the exception. One blog for enthusiasts of the breed says this is because these dogs were bred to be affectionate companion dogs , so shows of that affection like hugs are totally their jam in a way that other breeds may not tolerate.

If your Goldendoodle makes a habit of smothering you with cuddles and you want that behavior to continue, just make sure it's met with plenty of positive reinforcement, and return the cuddles and love, of course. Is there anything sweeter?
