Choosing a dog is quite a task. Sometimes you know exactly what you want, but there will undoubtedly always be a little piece of you that wonders if you should get a different breed. There are so many, and they all serve such different purposes!

If your desire is to have a pup who you can count on to make your home secure, you might think you should get a "scary" dog, like a German Shepherd or a Malinois. Excellent choices, but on September 26th, we learned that the Samoyed is actually the best choice of all:

Charishma and Boomer are not wrong about this, honestly. If I had gone in there with the intention of robbing the place, the mission would be forgotten in an instant. I would probably be so busy admiring him that she'd even have time to call the police!

Boomer is the sweet bumblebee in this video, and as far as we can tell, he loves his costume. He doesn't mind accessorizing at all: in other videos, he can be seen wearing bow ties, other pairs of wings, and even headbands. He's an agreeable boy, and for good reason. He's really loved!

Obviously, this video is a joke, and Boomer doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He loves strangers, probably because everybody who sees him adores him. He looks like a little polar bear! How could you not love him!

    Dogs Legitimately Deter Burglars

Okay, maybe Boomer is not the best deterrent ever. He calls to people like the sea calls to Moana. Some may consider breaking a window just to get a hand in to pet him. However, even a friendly dog can deter burglars!

Surveys have found that homes with dogs are less likely to get burgled, even if the breed isn't known to be "big and scary." Dogs of any breed are likely to bark when they see a stranger, which can draw attention to the situation, even if the dog has good intentions. The last thing someone who's not supposed to be somewhere wants to do is alert people to their presence.

Usually, burglars don't just choose a house at random and walk in - if they're good at what they're doing, they spend a few days "casing" different homes before making a choice about which one to enter. Many people choose to make their pup's presence known; they get "beware of dog" signs to stick on their front doors. Along with a good home-security system and a good safety routine before you leave every day, having a dog is just another layer to keep your home safe and unappealing to anyone who might try to break in!
