Mom Reveals 5 Things Her Maine Coon Cats Have ‘Stolen’ & It's Hilariously Spot-On

On the human side of the cat/parent relationship, when we adopt a new furry friend, we are welcoming them into our homes... with our being an important word in that sentence. But cats see it very differently, in my opinion. I'm pretty sure they believe they've been given a place to live and, as our benevolent overlord, they have generously decided to allow us to stay as well. We only still live there because they allow us to, and that means that everything inside the house actually belongs to them.

And by "everything," I mean both physically and figuratively. It's hard to explain exactly what I'm talking about to anyone who's never had a cat as a roommate before, but this video featuring some bossy Maine Coons as the rulers of the roost sums it all up pretty nicely.

On Instagram, @maxiecoon — a mom to two gorgeous Maine Coon cats named Maxie and Foxie — shared this Reel explaining the five things her feline children have stolen from her, and as a mom of two cats myself, boy, do I feel this one in my bones!

Her cats are gorgeous, I'll give them that... but they really have stolen some significant things from their mom, who is undoubtedly a very patient person.

First up on the list is her privacy, and I can confirm that is true. Most of the time, if I'm trying to take a shower, a cat has followed me in... and then proceeds to stare at me the entire time. Thanks, cat.

Personal space is another one, and yep, that tracks. It looks like her cats always need to be touching her, which I think a lot of us cat parents can relate to!

She also mentioned that they stole her husband, which is fair. My husband repeatedly states that he is not a cat person, but if that's the truth, why is a cat asleep on him every time I look at him?!

She ended by sharing that they stole her heart, too... also true. It's hard not to love them!

    Are Maine Coon Cats Territorial?

As you may have guessed after seeing all the things they stole from their mom... yes, Maine Coons as a breed are actually known for being territorial.

But as Untamed points out, that doesn't mean you can't teach them to be more accepting of others (and their stuff). Socializing your kitty as a kitten, if possible, is so important for that reason.

On the other side of the coin, once a Maine Coon has claimed you, they are your friend for life. They are affectionate, cuddly, sweet cats, even if they do steal your socks.

Anyone who is loved by a Maine Coon knows they're very lucky!
