Pup cups are something that every single breed enjoys. If you take a dog to Starbucks, they'll come to expect their pup cup, and there's nothing you can do about it. The best thing you can do is use your Starbucks trips as a teachable moment.

In time, your dog might even learn a thing or two about manners. On Friday, September 27th, one dog dad took to TikTok to brag about his Rhodesian Ridgeback's incredible manners. Get ready to give your own dog a disapproving look:

Asha the Rhodesian Ridgeback is everything I wish my dogs were. They're not good at waiting. Or being nice, really, in general...

Asha is an only pup, but she spends a lot of time making friends at the dog park. Rhodesian Ridgebacks need quite a bit of time and space to run every day, so the typical routine includes a stop at Starbucks before the park. Otherwise, no one would be able to keep up with her! At just under 3 years old, Asha has more energy than a small army.

When she's not at Starbucks or the dog park, she's still not really relaxing: she's just thinking about going to the park. She must sleep so good at night knowing that she's well-exercised, well-mannered, and adored by thousands of strangers!

Basic Manners Dogs Need to Know

Asha knows everything there is to know about being mindful, which is why she's so popular. We all have a thing or two to learn from here, and that makes one thing clear: her parents cut absolutely no corners when they were training her.

When you get a dog, whether they're a rescue or you bought them, there are a few habits you should get down pat right away:

    1. Sit. Dogs need to know when to stop.
    2. Stay/release. They need to rely on you for permission, not as an after thought.
    3. Place/crate. The dog should have a place in your house to go to when they need to relax, and you need to be able to send them there if they're getting out of hand.

Generally, the world will consider your dog a "good" dog if they don't beg and they seem good at sitting and waiting for your direction. If appearances are important to you, those skills are both easy to teach and actually useful at home, too! It's important to train dogs to do useful "tricks" before anything else. Once they've got the basics down, you can start up with the fun stuff, and your pup will be just like Asha in no time!
