German Shepherd Puppy Crying to Bring Her Bed On a Walk Has People in Their Feelings

Dogs will sometimes choose the weirdest hills to die on, and it's often a different thing every single day. One day, they might refuse to sit somewhere that doesn't have a blanket on it. The next day, they're refusing to touch that blanket.

Recently, one German Shepherd 's quirky thing of the day was a strange desire to bring his bed on his daily walk. He was simply not taking no for an answer, and we're here for it:

Neo the German Shepherd is hilarious. He's definitely the baby of the family... you could see that from a mile away!

Neo is one of several German Shepherds in this house, and the best part is that the rest of them are police dogs. Neo didn't make the cut, however, and it shows: while his siblings are off at work all day, he spends his time at home with mom. He loves to play, and they go on lots of long walks.

Walks can be tiring, though, so it almost makes sense that he decided to demand bringing his favorite bed on a walk. Originally, he was meant to be a support animal for his mom, but she's stated on several occasions that he ended up with 4 times the anxiety she ever had.

Dogs Often Have 'Emotional Support' Things

Neo's case is hilarious, and maybe a little unusual, but it's not entirely uncommon.  Dogs who suffer from anxiety will often have "emotional support" items, though they're usually not big things like a bed!

Having something to carry around can help make a dog feel secure. Not only is their emotional support item a security thing, but it can also be a pride thing: their item is usually their favorite toy, and they like to strut around and show it off to the other dogs around them.

As long as it's nothing imposing, there's no reason your dog can't carry their favorite item on their daily walk or wherever they're going. You just have to be sure to watch out for it in case they drop it. As annoying as letting them carry it may be annoying, but it won't be half as annoying as listening to them whine because they lost it.

To be clear, Neo's selection is definitely pushing it. Bringing a toy on a walk is one thing. An entire bed is totally another. At least it was waiting for him when he got home, safe and sound and not at all dirty from being dragged around!
