German Shepherd Puppy's Cute Protest When Mom 'Ignores' Her Is Everything

After caring for (and potty training) both a human child and a puppy, I can confirm that it's all challenging, just in different ways. I'll also admit that it's a bit easier to raise a puppy, but not by much. After all, by the time you've adopted them and brought them home, they already know how to walk, so that's a big plus. And they can mostly do basic things like eat and drink water without intervention, which can save a mama a lot of stress... though of course, they will stress you out in 100 other ways. And as they get older, they don't throw tantrums the way toddler humans do!

Okay, so maybe I'm wrong about that last one. Because while some dogs are certainly easygoing, there are also plenty of dogs out there who do throw tantrums, and the German Shepherd in the video below is one of them. But just to be fair... who wouldn't want to give him exactly what he wants after witnessing a display like this?

Dog mom @snookithegsd shared what happens when her German Shepherd puppy, Snooki (who I can only assume is named after the Jersey Shore star of the same name) doesn't get her way. It's not pretty!

And considering the fact that Snooki's mom led into the video by saying she adopted a dog because she didn't want to deal with a human baby's tantrums, well... that didn't quite work out how she planned.

There's Snooki, sitting on the couch howling her little heart out because her mom "ignored her for three minutes." Truly, how dare she?!

Plenty of people commented about their own German Shepherds who also enjoy being clingy the way Snooki does, so it seems like it's not just her. One person wrote, "We’ve got three female German Shepards. I very much understand."

    Do Dogs Really Throw Tantrums?

There are a lot of hassles you can escape by having a dog instead of a baby, like dirty diapers and sleepless nights (for the most part, anyway) but depending on your dog's personality, you may be unable to avoid tantrums.

As Wag points out, hissy fits are pretty common , like the one we see in the video. You might notice your dog howling or crying or even barking at you to "argue" when you say it's time to leave the park or they don't get as much attention as they want in that moment.

However, if your dog seems to be expressing themselves with destructive or harmful behaviors, including biting, it's important to handle the situation right away so no one gets hurt. Offering plenty of positive reinforcement when they follow directions without a tantrum (and not giving into their tantrums when they happen) can help train them to turn things around, but there's no shame in going to a professional, like a dog trainer, for help to stop this behavior before it gets worse.

And remember, some pups out there could never get enough attention, even from the most attentive of parents, so try not to let their guilt trips get you. You are a good parent!
