An adorable orange cat takes it upon herself to act as a "lifeguard" to her mom when she's in the bath, and it's very fitting.

On September 24, 2024, Peach and Pablo (@peachandpablo_) shared a video of the adorable cat named Peach and her contribution to mom's relaxation time. Take a look!

In a sweet video shared on Instagram, Peach, a cute little orange cat, has coined herself "lifeguard."

"Now it's time to relax," the video text reads. In the clip, we see the adorable Peach hanging out in the bath while Mom is relaxing.

She seems interested in the little bubbles in the water and is very happy to be supervising as a "lifeguard."

Mom teases the cute cat with her toes, tickling the bottom of her feet while her tail dangles in the water .

While acting as mom's lifeguard, Peach has fun with her tail under the faucet, is intrigued when she gets her tail and leg into the water, and then it's the cutest thing—snuggle time.

Mom put a plastic bowl into the tub, one big enough for Peach to fit when she sits. And she uses it for the perfect nap time.

Floating in the water while mom continues her bath, Peach has a peaceful snooze on the job while floating in the tub curled comfortably in her plastic bowl.

"Lifeguard Peach," the video's caption reads. And in the comment section, people were all about this sweet, chill orange cat.

One wrote, "Be still my beating heart! I was not expecting the floating catameow at the end."

Another shared, "The part where he’s in the bowl!! IN THE BOWL!!!"

    Someone else added, "So cute."

One explained, "I have a Peach, too."

Another, "oh to be a cat asleep floating in a bowl surrounded by warm water."

Someone shared, "We had a cat we raised from birth that got a bath often as a kitten! He would jump into the bath with you!"

Is It True That Cats Hate Water?

Cat parents know that felines and water have a strange relationship. Our cats need water to drink for their health, but it's hard to get them to drink it. They love to knock glasses of water off the table.

Cat also seem to hate getting wet. If we ever have to give them a bath, it can be a wild scene where no one is happy. But is that just a stereotype? Is it true that cats hate water?

According to Hill's Nutrition , it's true that cats, in general, have an aversion to water to drink or submerge in.

"Many cats have an aversion to water, but the exact reasons why continue to elude experts," the site explains.

"The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) has a theory that the aversion "may have something to do with the fact that the feline species evolved in arid desert climates."

Hill's Nutrition says the CVMA  believes that cat's early history could be an explanation. "Throughout their early history, cats were not exposed to rivers, lakes and rain and as a result were not as familiar with water as some other evolving species,' they note.

Another theory has to do with a cat's fur, which we know cats can be very particular about how it looks. And "wet hair is notoriously difficult to manage, and that doesn't sit well with cats."
