Abandoned Orange Kitten Accepted by Mama Rescue Cat in Beautiful Act of Love

Not all shelter pets get a happy ending, but sometimes life has other plans. Moments away from a different fate, Paprika, a sweet orange kitten, found a new life with a rescue cat who'd just given birth to two of her own, and it's the most precious thing ever!

Thankfully, TikToker Erin Berger (@erins_fosters) stepped in and placed little Paprika with the rescue mama, and now they're living happily ever after. Watch their heartwarming first interaction below.

In the video that says, "Paprika gets a surprise," the tiny kitten gets the second chance of a lifetime when Berger swooped in to rescue her with the help of Rescued Pets Movement. Before she could place Paprika  with the new mom, she first rubbed Paprika against the mom's two kittens so they shared the same scent.

Once that proved successful, she placed the babies back in with mom, though Paprika, being a couple of weeks older than the other two kittens wanted to wrestle and play! By the end of the clip, the sweet girl latched onto her new mom and all is right in the world.

"Welcome Paprika’s new adoptive family!" the caption says. "And the fact that they are all orange, despite orange mamas being uncommon, just shows how much this was meant to be. I’m so happy my baby P won’t be lonely anymore."

Obviously, this video is giving everyone the feels and follow-up videos show things continue to get better for the new family. In fact, they're thriving!

Fostering Saves Lives Like Paprika

Berger saved Paprika with the help of Rescued Pets Movement, a Houston, Texas rescue that has saved more than 91,000 pets from euthanasia since 2013.  They "make new beginnings possible for homeless pets throughout Houston and surrounding areas" because of devoted fosters like Berger who step up.

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton says fostering isn't only rewarding by learning all about the pet to help find them a forever home, but it saves lives by opening up critical shelter space for the next pet in need.

With the number of animals taken in each day, fosters are always needed. If money is an issue, shelters typically pay for and provide all medical care and supplies needed for temporary fostering. As far as space goes, it doesn't take much. A spare room or bathroom will do. The site says you can even use a crate in a corner as long as foster cats and kittens are kept away from your cats.

If you already have pets at home and fear they won't get along with fosters, keep them separated, even if just long enough to find them a forever home. Aside from spaying and neutering, fostering is single-handedly the best thing anyone can do to help pets in need.
