Boston Terrier’s Sassy Scowl Over Sharing Mom’s Lap Is Sibling Rivalry at Its Cutest

Adding a new four-legged member to the family can be a lot of fun, but it definitely comes with those growing pains that are only natural as your gang expands. After all, just the experience of raising two dogs (or more) is a lot different than just having one to worry about, and not all dogs will be welcoming to a new sibling — at least, not at first. You may have to give it some time and patience before things settle down, and unfortunately, some sibling rivalry may come up during that time, too.

Jealousy is a very real thing between human siblings, so why wouldn't it crop up between dog siblings, too? That certainly seems to be what's happening to this Boston Terrier in the video below. She has to share her mom with a new dog, and she's simply not having it.

In this Instagram video shared by @lolaandgeorgia , we see what happens when Lola, the big Boston Terrier sister, is forced to share a lap with her little sister, another Boston named Georgia. Basically, she's not going to make it easy on anyone involved!

"When you used to get mom's lap all to yourself and now you have to share it with a sister you didn't ask for..." the dogs' mom wrote in the video, adding in the caption, "Lola contemplates auctioning off. her little sister every time she has to share Mom's lap with her."

It's a rough adjustment, especially when you have less lap space to work with. But little sis seems perfectly happy for everyone to cuddle up together, even if big sister does have a bit of a mean mug going on there.

In the comments, Mom told a commenter that she makes sure to give Lola plenty of attention without Georgia around so she doesn't forget just how loved she is. If only that was enough to dogs who are greedy about their lap space!

The Adventures of Lola & Georgia

The good news? Lola and Georgia do tend to get along pretty well when Mom's lap real estate isn't at stake.

Their family adopted Georgia in the summer of 2023 , when she was just a tiny pup. "She’s a cute southern belle with a sweet & sassy personality. A true match for our Lola. Lola is still a little jealous about sharing Mom & Dad but overall, she seems so excited to have a built-in playmate now," their mom wrote at the time.

And while clearly, that jealousy has still stuck around a bit, more often than not, these sisters seem to be having a blast together, whether they're cuddling together at nap time or traveling the country in an RV with their parents.

These sisters will be just fine. After all, a little jealousy can be healthy!
