With the Halloween season in full swing, creepy and spooky decorations are now a part of our every day lives, and I truly would not have it any other way. I'm so excited to take my daughter trick-or-treating when October 31 comes around, and I put my fall decorations up inside and out before the month of September was over. But it's easy to forget that the decor we enjoy setting up and seeing might be a bit unsettling to the dogs in our lives... after all, they may not realize that it's not a threat if it looks super freaky!

That seemed to be happening to the pups in the video below. This brave Frenchie and Pit Bull weren't afraid to go head to head with this piece of decor, and even though we all know it's just a candy bowl, they both clearly thought it was something much scarier!

On Sunday, October 6, @bonnie.clyde00 on TikTok shared the way her dogs reacted to an animated candy bowl she has in her house for the Halloween season (hint: not well).

Bonnie, the Pit Bull , is the pup on the couch, while Clyde, the French Bulldog , is the one who is ready to fight this bowl to the death. It's easy to see why it has them freaked out: It looks like it's being held by a skeleton whose eyes glow red and his body moves and vibrates. Some human children would be scared of it, not just dogs!

There's a lot of barking going on, along with other intimidation tactics. At one point, Clyde even got in the skeleton's face, but obviously, they were fighting a losing battle.

At the request of one of her followers, the dogs' mom put dog food in the bowl instead of candy to see if their reaction to the skeleton would change. The results ? Bonnie was still a little scared, while Clyde absolutely was not going to let this skeleton steal his food!

How to Help Dogs With a Fear of Halloween Decorations

If your dog is scared of Halloween decorations that they encounter during their daily walk, it might be a long month for you. But there are a few things you can try to help them work through this fear.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) recommends that before you head out, you make sure that your dog is securely in their harness or dog collar, because being suddenly spooked by a decoration could lead to them getting loose, which would be awful. You can also bring some treats with you to offer some positive reinforcement as you pass by new decorations.

It's also a good idea to put some space between your dog and the decorations, so if you see anything up ahead you know is going to freak them out, cross the street first!

Keep the walk light and fun, and your dog might just decide they love Halloween. Can't hurt to try!
