With their gentle spirits, Golden Retrievers have no trouble making friends. Whether it’s small children, other dogs, or random strangers, their joyful personalities always attract new pals. Even when they're not trying.

However, this beautiful dog's newest companion wasn't making a social call when he sought refuge on top of her head. While this laid-back pup seemed blissfully unaware of her guest, she was left wondering where the frog she was chasing ended up.

Watch this surprising and adorable scene in a video from September 28th:

Leave it to a gorgeous Golden Retriever (@ hoperichardphotography ) to bond with a frog. However, in this case, this gentle pup wasn’t aware she was transporting a tiny passenger. She was still looking for the little amphibian she was playing with and couldn't figure out where the rascal went. While the frog may have jumped on her head to avoid being chased, he doesn't seem in a hurry to move. In fact, he's enjoying the view and perhaps the warm, soft fur that makes for a plush seat. Last week, my French Bulldog was also sporting a tree frog on her head, so if he sticks around, they might become the latest in canine hair accessory trends.

    Are Frogs Poisonous to Dogs?

While tree frogs are typically not harmful, some frogs and toads can be toxic to dogs, so it’s essential to be aware of those that pose a risk. Toxicity varies by species, but the two most dangerous are the Cane Toad (or Bufo Toad) and the Colorado River Toad (or Sonoran Desert Toad). These toads produce toxins, which can be harmful or fatal if dogs ingest or come into contact with their secretions, even briefly. According to NH PBS, the Colorado River Toad can be found “Around the Sonoran Desert in California and in Arizona south to Mexico.” However, Cane toads are generally found in central and south Florida, and they can also be found in Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and the US Virgin Islands. While other frogs/toads found throughout the continental United States are not dangerous to dogs, they can still carry parasites or cause irritations.

This unusual game of hide-and-seek entertained people. Viewer @janelleniebeling responded, “About the most Golden thing ever.” It is! Viewer @dustin_credible remarked, “His frog friends are never going to believe him.” That’s for sure. Viewer @coloursandsquares responded, “Just like a Walt Disney movie!” It would be a great tale.

Hopefully, this tiny hitchhiker didn’t take long to disembark. However, this good-natured girl may have allowed him to hang out all day if he wanted to.
