Feeding cats by hand is quickly becoming a thing of the past. It's just a hassle: you have to measure it, which can get complicated if you forget where you put the cup. You also have to store the food, which takes up space. Worst of all, you have to remember to feed them at the right time or you're stuck facing their wrath.

If you've been looking to get with the times but haven't been able to quite convince yourself yet, now is the time to pull the trigger! For Deal Days, Walmart is currently offering a pretty sweet automatic cat feeder at an astonishing 63% off.

The OUDOSPRS Automatic Cat Feeder is normally $130, but you can grab it now for just $47.99 : that's a savings of $82! For that kind of money, you could buy another one for your other cat! While this feeder is "simpler" than some others and only supports timed-dispense for one cat, it still offers a whole host of other features, like:

    1. Voice-recorded messages of up to ten seconds at feeding time.
    2. An iOS and Android compatible app to schedule/alter feeds throughout the day.
    3. Alerts if something goes wrong.
    4. A storage capacity of up to a month's worth of food, depending on your cat.
    5. An anti-tip base to keep hangry cats from outsmarting it.
    6. Two options for power: a plug-in cord or batteries.
    7. WiFi capabilities, with a fail-safe auto-feed mechanism if the WiFi goes down.

The food is completely sealed in the tank, and according to OUDSPRS, the tank is kept at 45 degrees Fahrenheit. While that's not cold enough to freeze the food, it is cold enough to keep the fat solids in the kibble from spoiling. Additionally, the seal is airtight, there's a desiccant bag on top to absorb moisture, and if you look at the container, it's tinted grey to minimize the food's exposure to light. They thought of everything!

The graphic they include states that this feeder can hold up to 4 liters of dry food: that's enough for 15 days' worth of feedings for bigger cats or dogs, and 30 days for smaller ones. In the event of a power outage, the feeder's battery-powered option will keep it running for up to a month!

Pet parents can't get enough, with one five-star review stating, "Since the nature of cat is a animal that eat less but eat often, this smart feeder helps me feed them frequently without worrying about they eat too much at once." Will it keep them from acting like they're starving? Probably not, but the day a pet feeder can do that is the day pet parents everywhere take to the streets and rejoice.

The thing almost every review raves about is the voice recording feature. OUDSPRS made it so pet parents can record an up to 10 second voice message to play every time the feeder dispenses, which serves two important purposes: it draws their attention to their meal in case they're busy or sleeping, and it can help to calm them down if you're gone a while. As a cat mom put it, "This gadget helps me to feel less guilty about leaving my pet at home. Its WiFi lets me feed him any time, and the voice record feature gives him the impression of my being with him. I get rather happy."

Eliminating a lot of my guilt about leaving my pets home alone for the low price of $48 right now sounds pretty good to me. Luckily, OUDSPRS says this feeder can work for dogs, too, if you make some adjustments to the schedule. It might be time to snag it!
