Sleepy Ragdoll Kitten Climbs Onto 'Furry Rug' That Turns Out to Be a Golden Retriever

Unlikely friendships are everywhere, and they're always a little bit sweet. Whether it's a grumpy little dog who's in love with a bigger, bumbling dog who loves being alive or even a senior dog and a tiny kitten, it tugs on the heartstrings every single time.

On October 8th, one Ragdoll kitten was caught showing her love to her favorite fluffy rug as she climbed on top of it for a nap. Wait... that is not a rug:

Oh, to be one of Pearl's Ragdolls. I would love to have a little nap with sweet Lucy! She looks really cozy!

Pearl's Ragdolls is a breeder of Ragdoll kittens in Fort Worth, Texas. Currently, there are 13 fur babies in her care, including several kittens, their parents, and Lucy. Lucy is the grandma of the group: she spends time with every litter of kittens when they're born, and they learn to trust her immediately. Apparently, they also use her as a cat bed, sometimes more than one at a time.

Lucy may be a grandma, but she's ready for all the kitten crazies she can get her paws on. Even when she's not getting involved, she loves to lie down and watch them play with each other. She spends time with the kittens when their moms need a break; after a few weeks of almost constant care, the kittens start venturing out, and Lucy is always there to keep tabs on them!

Should You Raise Kittens With a Dog?

If you look, it's actually not uncommon for cat breeders of all breeds to have at least one dog on the property. It's often a female, and sometimes even an old pup like Lucy. Generally, if a breeder has a dog, it's an easygoing, calm breed - qualities you need when dealing with kittens.

While you don't have to raise your kittens with a dog in their lives, it's a good idea, especially if you're planning to sell or give them away to different forever homes. They'll be young enough that they could learn to live with a dog when they get there, but having been exposed to dogs their entire lives gives you a leg up with prospective pet parents.

Additionally, having a dog could potentially make things easier if a kitten gets rejected for some reason - the dog will "take over" as the mother figure. Even if they never need to, it takes a village, and having a dog can give the new mom a nice break from her crazy kittens!
