Grandma Fixes Golden Retriever's 'Messy' Hair & Total Perfection Ensues

It typically doesn't matter what type of dog breed you're parenting: At some point or another, they're going to need to be groomed. It's just a part of life (for them and us, really). Their coats need to stay groomed in order for them to be healthy... and just like we feel better when we look our best, I suspect that dogs do, too, even if they would never admit it to their humans! It's not always a fun experience, though, so I am extra impressed by the Golden Retriever in this TikTok video.

First of all, he was so calm and patient when his grandma decided to fix his messy hair, so he definitely gets credit for that. But more importantly is the end result, which was totally worth all of this patience. He looks like a movie star!

On Wednesday, October 9, @evelynevelynm shared this sweet video of this Golden Retriever 's grandma grooming her four-legged grandson in a way that Mom is clearly not capable of (because she is Grandma, of course).

She took a very fine comb to his hair and even gave him a bit of a side part to help him look more distinguished, speaking to him sweetly the whole time. I do not doubt that went a long way in keeping him as calm as he was the whole time.

The things she was saying were very typical grandma, though. At one point, she told him, "your mommy doesn't do it right. And when she picks you up, she's gonna say, 'there's my handsome boy!'"

Judging by the look he gave the camera at the end of the video, it seems that he may not have loved his new hairstyle... but he'll get used to it in due time, I'm sure.

How Often Golden Retrievers Need Grooming

Dogs who belong to all different breeds will all need to be groomed differently — and at different intervals, depending on their coats.

When it comes to a Golden, though, they're pretty low maintenance. Dogster recommends brushing them at home three to five days a week (every other day would likely suffice). Not only will this help keep the dog healthy and their coat shiny, but it will also prevent their hair from becoming matted, which is awful for you and your dog to deal with.

If you choose to get them professionally groomed, the site recommends taking them in every eight to ten weeks.

Of course, not all dogs are going to be as calm as the one in the video when the time comes for a grooming appointment, but I don't doubt they will all look just as handsome when it's all over!
