While cats can be rather savvy creatures when they're used to living outdoors, there are certain circumstances they can't overcome without a lot of luck or a little help from the humans who are around. When Hurricane Milton struck Florida this week, it resulted in record amounts of flooding, wind, and property damage. And it wasn't just outdoor shelter animals who needed to find places to stay where they could be safe — where would stray cats go during a storm as powerful as this one?

The good news? There are good people out there, which includes this family, who opened their doors to their neighborhood stray cat to keep him safe as they rode out the storm together. And while the family does have dogs, as it turns out, that only made the situation even sweeter.

Tangerine Tok is the only thing making me smile during this crazy storm, yall are so nice🥹🥹🥹 a GREAT update, the dogs and Tangerine seem to be acclimated. Everyone is happy and napping away as it starts to pour. #milton #hurricane #tampa #tangerinetok

In this video shared on Tuesday, October 8, a woman named Casey on TikTok shared the sweetest video of the cat in question, who the family named Tangerine, making himself right at home with his three new dog BFFs during the storm in Tampa.

The storm may have been raging outside, but these pets had absolutely no concerns. Instead, they were all curled up together, taking a nice cozy nap indoors where they were safe and sound. You would never know that Tangerine is brand new to the crew just from watching this video!

"The dogs and Tangerine seem to be acclimated," Casey wrote in her caption. "Everyone is happy and napping away as it starts to pour.

Honestly, this is the best case scenario. They're so sweet together.

    The Tangerine Chronicles

Casey has been documenting Tangerine's time inside with the family since it began. In the first video, she shared that once they were able to get him inside, they realized that he was afraid of their dogs... but it's much better to be safe from a hurricane of historical proportions.

They even made Tangerine his own little area , with faux grass, a gate to protect him from the dogs, and a makeshift cat condo so that he could take some space if he needed it and escape from them. How sweet is that?

It's likely because they offered him this out that Tangerine came around so quickly. After spending time getting used to each dog individually, it seemed like he was much less overwhelmed.

In the family's latest update, Tangerine was still inside with them, though they did lose power during the storm. What's important is that they all made it through

Fingers crossed that they get power back soon. Maybe Tangerine will decide to stay for good!

so glad there's a few good people left. I still can't get over some EVIL people tied their dogs up to fences when the cowards tucked tail and ran. I want just 10 minutes alone with each of them SO BAD
