Our pets, with their innate ability to entertain, are the true comedians of our lives. Whether they are playing, exploring, or even sleeping, their behaviors never fail to bring a smile to our faces.

This loveable St. Bernard’s laid-back approach to relaxation is a perfect example of these hilarious antics. Watch how she likes to get her beauty rest in this video from October 6:

It’s safe to say that Daisy feels secure and relaxed. This unusual position initially had me questioning whether it was one or two dogs. I did not know a Saint Bernard could be this flexible! But clearly, Daisy (@ daisy_and_dahlia_ ) has been doing yoga and stretching her hips, making it effortless to keep her back paws by her head. She’s more limber than I am! Although I thought it would be impossible for her to be any cuter, when her mom scratched her head, she kicked her legs ever so slightly as if to say hello. She’s such a doll! I don’t know what she’s eating or what kind of exercise she’s doing to rest so profoundly, but I’d love to get in on her routine.

What Does it Mean When Dogs Sleep on Their Backs?

When dogs sleep on their backs, it’s often a sign that they feel safe, relaxed, and comfortable. This position exposes their vulnerable belly area and shows a sense of security, as they’re not on high alert for potential threats. According to the AKC, dogs may also choose to sleep on their backs to cool down, as it releases heat from their belly, where fur is thinner. For some pups, lying on their back is a preferred way to rest because it allows their muscles to relax and gives them a break from lying on their legs. This position can also reflect a dog’s unique personality. While some are more trusting and open to sleeping in exposed positions, others might prefer to sleep curled up, especially if they are more anxious by nature or previous experiences.

People wanted to feel as relaxed as this beautiful St. Bernard! Viewer @rach_barkss responded, “The money I would pay to be that comfortable.” I would spend whatever it takes to feel this good. Viewer @thewaggingshopusa remarked, “Me after watching 9 hours of football on Sunday.” Ha! Good point. Another person responded, “When IKEA assembly instructions go horribly wrong…” LOL! We’ve all been there before.

Although we may never experience this type of relaxation ourselves, it’s nice to know we can give it to our dogs. After all, making sure they’re happy brings us unlimited joy.
