Husky's Blatant Frustration Over Newborn Baby Crying Has Parents Feeling Seen

As a human mom, I can confirm that bringing a newborn home is something that you cannot possibly prepare yourself for ahead of time until it actually happens, try as you might. And as a dog mom, I can also confirm that it's impossible to fully prepare your dog for what it's going to be like for them, either. It pretty much goes without saying that adding a new baby to your family is going to be an adjustment for everyone living under your roof, dogs included... and that may even include those sleepless nights.

The Husky in the video below knows what I'm talking about. This poor dog has had enough of his newborn sister's relentless crying, and he's making parents everywhere feel seen. Sometimes, you just want it to stop!

The scene that's playing out in this TikTok video shared by @newtonally on Saturday, October 12 is one that will be all too familiar to anyone who has ever had a new baby under their roof. That tiny baby girl is screaming her heart out, and the poor Husky dog , whose name is Wayne, is mashing his face into the side of his bed. He's had it!

I have been right where Wayne is, honestly — and I'm willing to bet his mom is feeling the same way in that moment, too. But sometimes, newborns can be inconsolable for what appears to be no reason... and that can lead to a lot of frustration, especially for parents who are exhausted.

Commenters could sympathize with Wayne so much in this moment — though many pointed out the irony of a Husky being tired of a baby crying, since they're a vocal breed. One person wrote, "you know it's bad when a Husky is fed up."

Wayne will get used to the tears, though; that baby looks fresh , so this video was likely taken very early on. And at the same time, the baby will grow and stop crying quite so much, and I wouldn't be surprised if they end up being good friends and playmates.

How Dogs Feel About Babies Crying

When dogs react to a baby crying, it's not just about the volume level — it can also be because they're empathetic to their new little human being sad.

According to the New York Times , one study exposed 75 dogs to different sounds for over 10 minutes each, and one of those sounds was a baby crying. Not only did the dogs' cortisol spike when they heard the cries, but they also tucked their tails between their legs and similar behavior, which the study's author, Ted Ruffman, described as "a primitive form of empathy."

Since dogs often consider new babies to be members of their pack when they join the family, it makes sense that their emotional connection would start early... though I'm willing to bet that, after awhile, they're just ready for the crying to stop, just as human parents are.

Hang in there, Wayne. This is just a phase!
