Ragdoll Cat Casually Walks Up Like an Unbothered King After Sitter Frantically Scours House for Him

Losing our pets is our worst fear as pet parents, isn't it? We know they won't survive in the wild, and more than that, we worry that we'll never see them again. It would be devastating. Now imagine watching someone's cat for them, only to be unable to find them. You look everywhere, and you can't find them. You have to start thinking about how you're going to tell your friend/family member/random person you're cat-sitting for you lost their baby!

On Monday, October 14th, one cat sitter went through all of this, and she was absolutely terrified, looking in the most nonsensical places. She was desperate, only for him to come slinking into the room, looking like she's insane:

I think @realawakrd, whose display name is RealAwkward, has a pretty on-the-nose username. If she had needed to deliver the bad news, it definitely would've been awkward...

Unfortunately, since she's just a cat sitter for him, we don't have much information about Elmo. We know that he loves to go missing, and we were told that his mom said he likes to hide in the clothes... which is honestly a little hilarious. That's a very cat thing to do.

Naturally, once she was unable to find him in all of the normal spots you'd think a cat might hide in, she turned to the closet to see if mom was right and he was hanging out in there (no pun intended). For most of the video, I was absolutely expecting him to be stuck to a sweater or something - just walking into the room like that is diabolical, Elmo!

Where to Check for Hidden Cats

Cats like to hide. It's instinctual: hiding gives them a leg up. It's easier to stalk their pray when they're hidden, and it's easier to avoid being preyed upon by other animals. While that's not really a concern, they still like to pretend it is.

Cats love to hide in enclosed, dark spaces, especially on the smaller side. They love to curl up and stay warm that way. If you can't find your cat, start calling their name and check places like:

    1. The dryer (check here thoroughly every time you go to turn it on).
    2. Baskets. Every basket.
    3. Under couches, beds, and chairs.
    4. In cabinets.
    5. Behind pillows and under blankets.
    6. In any open cardboard boxes.
    7. In closets.

Continue calling their name as you look around for them, and if that doesn't work, try some unconventional location methods; pop open a can of wet food and shake their favorite bag of treats to draw them out!
