Sphynx cats are, famously, without fur. People have a lot of ways to refer to this phenomenon: raw chicken, naked cat, inside out... It's never-ending. Most of the time, it's also hilarious.

Not having fur might be a little funny, but it's also something they legitimately have to live with. Over the years, they've developed methods to stay warm, and on October 12th, one cat mom took to TikTok to show off exactly how her weird Sphynx cats keep warm as the weather outside gets colder:

Lord Loki and Miss Maple are the best team. She may not understand all of his weirds ways of staying warm, but she definitely relates to some of them!

Lord Loki is a Sphynx cat, but his sister, Miss Maple, actually has some fur: she's a Devon Rex. it's not a ton of fur, but it's enough to snuggle with for a little extra warmth. That's one of his favorite ways to stay warm: one, warmth, two, sweet bonding time. What's not to love?

Other than that, Loki has a few failsafe methods for when his beloved sister is busy:

    1. Sitting on the air fryer.
    2. Sitting on the radiator.
    3. Wearing sweaters (this is a last resort for him).
    4. Warm baths followed by warm towels.

Don't worry, though, his mom always has a heated mat under his cat bed for some extra warmth, plus he has a couple of blankets around all the time to help him stay warm.

A Guide to Keeping Hairless Cats Warm and Safe

Hairless cats aren't technically completely hairless: they're covered in a layer of peach fuzz. It helps preserve a little warmth, but honestly, not much. They legitimately need heat from external sources even more than regular cats. They'll seek it out wherever they can, including:

    1. Dryers
    2. Stovetops and ovens
    3. Radiators
    4. Air fryers, toaster ovens etc.
    5. Space heaters

When it gets colder, you should make an effort to be sure they're warm without having to seek out heat in dangerous ways: provide them with a heating pad/mat under their favorite bed or blanket. Try to have a cat tree positioned in direct sunlight so they can bask there. Make sure all of your hot appliances are unplugged when not in use and that you check around them for the cats before you turn them on ( especially the dryer! ).

As much as Loki hates it, sweaters (or jumpers, as his mom called them) are also a good way to help your hairless cat preserve their body heat. If they can't grow the fur themselves, we just have to give them some to wear! Plus, he looked really handsome.
