Sweet Reason for Staffordshire Terriers' Obsession with Specific Blanket Is Melting Hearts

There are few things in the world that bring me more joy than witnessing the bond between my daughter and our family's dog. Anytime we come home, and when she wakes up every morning, the first thing my kid wants to do is look for her dog. Our Boxer mix, BB, was here for a few years before my daughter was born, but she accepted the new member of our family seamlessly, becoming her playmate and protector. And when my kiddo starts school next year, I just know that BB is going to be devastated to spend less time with her.

Dogs do get attached to their human siblings, of course, and mine isn't the only one. One mom on Instagram showed the sweet way her Staffordshire Terriers showed they were missing the kiddos during the school day, and it's enough to make any dog lover emotional.

In this sweet footage shared by @oso_n_koa , we see that these three Staffordshire Terriers , Oso, Koa, and Bam, are obsessed with cuddling on a particular white blanket during the day at home, and though their mom didn't understand why at first, once she did... well, cue the waterworks.

She realized that the blanket smelled like her kids, so when they weren't home and the dogs were missing them, they could take a nap on the blanket and feel comforted. How sweet is that?!

"We homeschool now, but this was back when our kids went to school. The dogs missed them every day!!!" she wrote in her caption.

The clips at the end of the video show the dogs and the kids together, and it's pretty clear to see that the feeling is mutual. There's so much love here!

    The Special Dog/Child Relationship

These Staffies aren't the only dogs who have formed close bonds with their human siblings.

In fact, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC), it's only natural that they do, especially if your dog is already in the household when you bring baby home. Psychology professor Dr. Stanley Coren believes that the pheromones that human babies give off can cause female dogs to form a maternal bond with them as if the little one in question were their own baby that can last for the rest of their life.

If you have a puppy and a young child at the same time, the very fact that they are being raised together and growing up as a pair may bond them together even further. Bonds like this could mean that your dog misses your kid when they aren't home, and that they may feel especially protective over them.

There's really something special about that dog/child bond, and the pups in the video above definitely know it!
