Golden Retriever Gets Impromptu 'Spa Day' Thanks to Mini Horses & It's Too Cute

If you have a farm, you resign pretty early to the fact that the animals are going to form really weird friendships. While it might seem like common sense for them to make friends within their own species, and they definitely do, there's no telling who else they'll fall for.

For example, recently, one farmer caught something very strange and very cute on camera. Her mini horses, for some reason, decided it was time to bathe her Golden Retriever... in kisses!

The R&R Ranch Minis would make an excellent pit crew à la Formula One. I mean, in just a couple of seconds, this sweet Golden was shiny and new!

These two excellent groomers are just a fraction of the mini horses living on the R&R Ranch, all of whom are rescues. It's a nonprofit organization that focuses on rescue, rehabilitation, and relaxation for the poor horses they come upon in time. Whether by auction or word of mouth, they help whoever they can!

The Golden Retriever in question here doesn't live in the barn, but he does spend a ton of time with his horses. They all love him: while he plays with the little ones in true Golden fashion, he's getting older, so he's equally content to lie down while they pamper him. They get to groom, he gets pampered, and we get to watch it happen - it's literally a perfect scenario.

Golden Retrievers Make Excellent Farm Dogs

Now, don't get it twisted: a Golden Retriever is not really a good herding dog, and they're not built for livestock guardianship. If you want a Golden for your farm, they're pretty much exclusively a personality hire, though they will help you fetch things from time to time!

Especially on a farm full of rescued animals, an easygoing, friendly breed like Golden Retrievers are typically a big hit. They're often used as therapy dogs for humans because of their kind, calming demeanors, and they have much the same effect on other animals who might be feeling anxious.

Beyond that, Golden Retrievers are highly intelligent, which often leads to them having a firmer understanding of boundaries; they know where they should and shouldn't go. They know when to back off. They know what the animal needs. For example, this sweet boy may be letting these horses groom him, but he's no stranger to getting down and dirty with the younger horses... which is why he needs a little freshening up. You know what they say: a good farm runs like a well-oiled machine!
