Service dogs like German Shepherds are widely recognized for their intelligence, loyalty, and versatility. They serve in a variety of capacities, from guiding individuals with visual impairments to participating in search and rescue missions. While they might have critical jobs, many handlers enjoy adding playful patches to their vests.

These patches add some flair, help create awareness, and give insight into these hardworking pups. Some of these options are laugh-out-loud funny!

Check out this video from October 4th to see what some of these hilarious options say.

These are priceless! It’s easy to see why Lucille (@ njoodle ) wanted to buy half the store’s patches for her hard-working German Shepherd CeCe to wear. She began by showing us the circular green patch that displayed “Walking disaster.” While I could use that patch for my purse most days, the next one was even better, “I whisper WTF to myself at least 20 times a day.” Don’t we all? If I were to see this next patch on a service dog, I wouldn’t be able to control my laughter, even if we were in church, and it states, “But did you die?” LOL! This could only be improved by putting the patch “BRUH” before it. The cheeky “Stop reading my patches” and “Hot girls hit curbs.” are also sensational. But they have tough competition with “Not today, Satan” and “This is my first rodeo.” Ha! Who is the comedic genius who came up with those? They are just too good!

Is It Okay to Pet a Service Dog?

No matter how cute they may be, the short answer is no. According to Guide Dogs of America, service dogs are an extension of their person and play an essential and potentially life-saving role for them. Therefore, they should be viewed as medical devices and left alone. However, there is an exception. If you were to be greeted by a service dog in a harness and without their person, they may be attempting to get your attention and help for their human. It’s also possible that in the presence of their person, should they nudge or paw you, it’s a sign their handler is or will soon be in distress. Should a service animal select you for help, quickly taking action can save a life.

These silly statements entertained people. Viewer @mussolinismistress remarked, “Imagine someone just having a seizure, and their service dog is just looking over them like, But did you die?” It would undoubtedly lighten the mood. Another responded, “I’ve got a patch that states -Bad choices make good stories.” While it may be sad, it’s also true.

Although we may not pet a service animal, these distinctive patches are a great way to learn more about them and their person. If we ever encounter these amusing phrases, we’ll know we are in the company of someone with a beautiful sense of humor and a terrific dog.
