Orange Rescue Kitten Ditches Playpen & Becomes Cutest Great Escape Artist

Kittens think they're invincible and don't think about the consequences if they're having a good time. There's good reason these cuties are said to have nine lives! Just ask Paprika the tiny rescue kitten who's decided to break out of the safety of her playpen to become a girl on the run!

Paprika never said she was a rule-follower. This spicy little sweetheart is done with being treated as a delicate baby and she's really to leave it all behind for a chance at the great wide open (in the house)! Watch as she escapes!

If you've not been following Paprika's story, let me fill you in. When Erin Berger ( @erin_fosters) took this sweet orange cat in at the end of September, she was hanging on for dear life. After a little TLC and placing the spunky baby with another foster, and new mama, Lemon, Paprika proved she's not only a fighter, but a force to be reckoned with.

It's no surprise a very curious Paprika busted out of her playpen! She has the grit and tenacity of a seasoned cat and it shows. With Erin's more than 279k followers who check in daily to see more Paprika and Lemon content—along with all the others she fosters,—it's fitting that this playpen clip is the next to last update of the sweet girl.

She's heading to a new foster where she'll surely win them over with her personality in no time. Until then, everyone is applauding Paprika's determination to be free!

What to Expect When Fostering Kittens Like Paprika

There's no question that fostering saves two lives —the one in foster care and the one who gets the shelter space in that kitten's place. If you're thinking of taking the leap, Shelter Animals Count says there are a few general things to expect when fostering a kitten .

Many shelters will provide or help with supplies, but if you're purchasing yoursel, you'll need a shallow litter box and small amount of litter, a shallow water and food dish, a heating pad with a blanket over it, and an additional blanket to keep them warm. Depending on the kitty's age, the food will differ so be sure to consult the shelter.

Younger kittens will require more of a time commitment, as much as every 2-3 hours, so don't foster a really young kitten if that won't work. The site notes that kittens can typically be adopted out around 8 weeks, so keep that in mind when you take them in.

Create a safe place in a room where the door closes or consider a playpen like the one Paprika spent a lot of her time. It's also important to remove anything that might be toxic or dangerous to the curious felines!

There will be an adjustment period, so don't get frustrated or overwhelmed if things aren't going well in the first couple of days. Whether they need to be bottle-fed or not, try to keep them on a consistent schedule. The time goes fast. Before you know it, they'll have the playpen mastered, on their way to being an independent cat like Paprika believes herself to be! You can now prepare them for adoption into a forever home.
