There's something magical about the time of the year when the weather turns cool, and we say goodbye to summer to welcome in autumn. It might be the pumpkin spice in the air or the sun setting earlier, but one dog makes a compelling argument that the best thing about the autumn season is the changing colors of the leaves.

On October 23, 2024, TikTok user Sedona the Australian Shepherd (@ aussie.sedona ) shared a video of the playful pup dancing in the vibrant, falling leaves. It's absolutely magical. Take a look!

The first thing you notice when watching the video is how incredibly stunning all those bright leaves look. Pops of oranges, reds, yellows, and peeks of green make the video look like a painting.

And Sedona, an Australian Shepherd , is enjoying the crisp fall air with her mom and has made a game out of all the falling leaves. The fun fall antics have been captured in slow motion so we can get a playful look at Sedona trying to snap a leaf out of the air while her beautiful fur floats with every jump.

As the video says, it's challenging not to smile while watching Sedona having so much fun in the leaves. You can see the joy in Sedona's mom's face as she throws up a pile of yellow and red leaves and watches Sedona's magic happen. The video is perfect for anyone who "needs a pick-me-up!"

The comments on the video highlight how perfect this clip is for giving a boost of happiness. One person said, "This makes me want to drink a PSL," while another commented, "Sedona put a smile on my face when I could see how much fun she was having!"

Australian Shepherds Are Working Dogs Who Love to Problem Solve

According to the American Kennel Club, Australian Shepherds can be described best in three words: "smart, work-oriented, and exuberant."

This breed is part of the herding group which means they're used to working hard and do best when they can focus that energy into something productive.

"Aussies exhibit an irresistible impulse to herd anything: birds, dogs, kids," the club explains. Or, in Sedona's case, she channels that energy into herding falling autumn leaves.

South Texas Aussie Rescue explains this further, highlighting that Australian Shepherds have a strong instinct to "pursue and capture" moving objects. Because of that instinct and their strong pull to problem-solve, dog parents need to make sure there's an outlet for that energy.

"Many Aussies will try to insert something of their own into the 'game,' and what they insert isn’t always ideal for working or competition," the site explains. "Keeping an Aussie motivated includes allowing them to problem-solve."

South Texas Aussie Rescue also notes that Australian Shepherds' strong drive to capture and problem-solve can be used as a motivator.

"The presence of high prey drive in [Australian Shepherds] can mean that people wishing to have a great sport or obedience dog can use prey-drive games as high-level motivators," the site explains. "Some Aussies like prey-drive games more than food rewards!"
