Senior Pugs Band Together to 'Perform' Classic Duet & It's Perfect

When two dogs get together, sometimes they fight. Sometimes they ignore each other. Sometimes... they start a jam session. While not a frequent outcome, it's definitely the funniest one!

On Sunday, October 27th, two senior Pugs went on a trip to the park. Instead of playing and doing normal dog things there, though, they decided to strike up a tune that put the original singers to shame:

Frank and Brenda are the best couple around, and they're very talented singers. I'm sure everyone in the park agrees!

Frank and Brenda are both on the older side, and Frank is actually disabled: he has a degenerative disease that has significantly impaired the use of his legs over time. He can still walk for short distances, but he requires a stroller on-hand or his adorable wheelchair if he's going to be out for a while.

Hence, why he's sitting in the park in his stroller while his sweet sister is walking, and they're both absolutely crushing a duet of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers' Islands in the Stream. If Dolly saw this, I just know she'd eat it up. She loves dogs: she even has her own doggy clothing line called Doggy Parton! Maybe she'd even feature Frank and Brenda in a song...

Dogs Can Live Happy Lives With Degenerative Diseases

Frank was diagnosed with his condition at three years old, and he's been managing it since then. He did have surgery to try and help his condition , but things like that are incredibly finicky and he ended up with nerve damage. Since then, they've been doing hydrotherapy as well as light therapy to reduce inflammation and manage any pain he has.

If your dog is diagnosed with a degenerative disease , the prognosis might seem grim, but you don't need to worry. Even as degeneration begins, your pup can still remain in good spirits, especially with proper pain management and therapy. Just because a dog can't walk doesn't mean their life is over: it just means you might need to make some accommodations as things progress. Basic things you can do to make life more accessible for a disabled dog are:

    1. Adding ramps up to the couch/beds they love most.
    2. Getting them a wheelchair while they still have use of their front legs.
    3. Bringing them around in a stroller so they can still enjoy the outdoors in comfort.
    4. Train them to ring a bell when it's time to go potty so that they don't have to get up and notify you physically.
    5. Using carpets or non-slip mats around the house for when they are trying to walk around.

Lucky for Frank, everyone in his life is very supportive of him, and they're more than willing to accommodate him. Brenda even let him sing the best part of their duet!
