Crash kills two men in Willows on Tuesday night, cause being investigated
WILLOWS, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is currently investigating a crash in Willows on Tuesday night that claimed the lives of two men. Highway Patrol officials say the crash happened just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday night, July 16. They say Rodney Yeager, 44, of Glenn, was driving a Ford F-250 north on County Road X while Lucas Nunes, 45, of Willows, rode passenger.

About fifty makeshift tents and pop-up awnings fill a dirt and gravel lot that encompasses the city of Chico’s alternative campsite on Eaton and Cohasset roads. The encampment is for homeless residents who aren’t eligible to go to other shelters. The area was set up by the city as a result of Warren v. Chico, a settlement intended to increase shelter options after unhoused residents sued the city in 2021 for enforcing anti-camping ordinances when shelter beds weren't available.

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the following appointments:. Melany Acosta-Parra, of Kerman, has been appointed to the California Youth Empowerment Commission. Acosta-Parra has been a Recreation Leader for the City of Kerman Parks and Recreation Department since 2021. She served on the Kerman Youth Commission from 2021 to 2024. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Acosta-Parra is a Democrat.
