BYU alum’s project brings Native American traditions to the forefront
Fueled by a connection to his ancestors and culture, recent BYU grad Eugene Tapahe is on a mission to heal hearts through Native American dance. Tapahe, an award-winning photographer and member of the Diné Navajo nation, says he was inspired to launch a new project during the pandemic – a time of uncertainty for many people around the globe. His newly created project, Art Heals: The Jingle Dress Project, was based on a Native American traditional dance of healing.
City reveals unique and controversial zoning plan to address affordable housing shortage
On August 22, the Planning Commission heard Lehi City’s plan to amend the Development Code to include a Critical Homeownership Overlay Zone (“CHOZ”). The city explained that the proposed amendment’s development included months-long collaboration between multiple city departments and individuals. The intent of the proposal is to address the availability of affordable housing in Lehi City.
Post Malone’s ‘F-1 Trillion’ truck goes on tour
The truck’s cross-country move is the latest to come from Raising Cane’s and Todd Graves’ partnership with Post Malone. Hot on the (w)heels of Post Malone’s highly-anticipated F-1 Trillion country album release, the iconic blue 1971 F-150 truck featured on the album’s cover art is on the move en route to West Valley City, Utah, for the first stop on Malone’s F-1 Trillion Tour. The 1971 F-150 truck is hitting the open roads as the first leg of Malone’s tour starts September 8th at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City, Utah. The tour, which concludes on October 27th at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater in Austin, Texas, was named one of the most anticipated tours of 2024, with many hoping that the shows will include surprise guest appearances by album collaborators.
Park City panel prepares to cast vote on height of hotel project
A vision to build a new lodging property at a high-profile Park City intersection could advance on Wednesday even if a final decision would be scheduled later. A developer, Chicago-based Singerman Real Estate, wants to demolish The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Park City – The Yarrow and then rebuild on the land at the intersection of Park Avenue and Kearns Boulevard.
Park City exploring development ideas for the future of Main Street
The nine-member committee includes Park City officials, business owners and residents. They’ve held several meetings this year, and topics include several pie in the sky concepts, including a gondola connecting Main Street to Deer Valley Resort, housing and commercial development on Swede Alley, and a new town plaza where the post office now stands.
Documents show fines, new plans for Fifth Ward after its illegal demolition and sale
Salt Lake City has issued $40,200 in fines related to the illegal partial demolition of the historic Fifth Ward Meetinghouse in late March, Building Salt Lake has learned. The fines, which began accruing daily in response to the demolition on Easter Sunday, will continue to add up despite the property having been sold late last month to a group that says it plans to convert the building into transitional housing.

Recommendation to eliminate 15-day spring transfer portal window for football players moves forward
The NCAA Division I Council will consider eliminating the 15-day spring transfer window for football as part of a move to decrease the overall number of days from 45 to 30 that players can declare their intentions to switch schools while maintaining immediate eligibility. The NCAA has announced the football oversight committees have recommended decreasing the transfer portal windows from two to one. The council will meet in October and if approved, the new one-window arrangement could go into effect this year from Dec. 9-Jan. 7.
