Look out for new uniform of Paradise Valley Public Works

For years, the Paradise Valley Public Works streets technicians have been easily recognized by their basic orange uniform shirts paired with blue jeans, but they have decided it’s time for a change.

After careful consideration and research, the decision was made to transition to Hi-Vis fluorescent yellow attire, according to the Town Manager’s Weekly Update.

This vibrant color, combined with reflective stripes, significantly enhances their visibility, particularly in low-light conditions. The bright yellow stands out against various environments, making it easier for motorists and pedestrians to spot crews. Bright outfits are essential for road crews’ safety, the newsletter stated.

In addition to the color change, the safety vests now display the town emblem and department on the chest and back. This branding helps the public quickly identify teams at work.

Furthermore, Public Works has moved away from traditional blue jeans, opting instead for charcoal gray work pants. These pants are durable, lightweight and made from tear-and-abrasion-resistant fabric with flex material, allowing for unrestricted movement — a crucial factor for technicians working in demanding conditions, the newsletter stated.

The public is urged to exercise caution when approaching technicians working on the roadways. Please slow down and move over when you see them.
