As Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) approaches another critical election cycle, the future of our children’s education is at stake.

Among the candidates vying for a place on the school board, three stand out for their exceptional qualifications and commitment to excellence. These individuals bring a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of the challenges facing our schools. While being a parent of a school-aged child offers valuable perspective, it’s important that candidates also bring a broader range of experience and qualifications to the table to effectively address the complex needs of our school district.

Mike Sharkey works at Arizona State University as the Executive Director of Data & Analysis. He is more than qualified to analyze and make great decisions that serve the best interest of the student at SUSD schools.

Donna Lewis has been a classroom teacher, a gifted specialist as well as a principal. Donna has been a Superintendent herself and was recognized with an award for Governing board of the year.

Matt Pittinsky brings a whole new level of experience and expertise to the position of School Board member. He co-founded and led two global education technology companies based in Scottsdale. Additionally, Matt has served on the boards of various non-profit and corporate organizations.

So yes, Mike, Donna and Matt can say they are parents of school children, but they also represent a powerful combination of experience, dedication and vision. By electing these three outstanding candidates to the school board, we can ensure that our schools continue to provide a world-class education for all students.

Their commitment to our children’s education and their proven track record of success makes them the best candidates for the job
