University Alliance for Racial Justice Criticizes Cooley Report on Dunn Meadow Encampment
Bloomington, IN, July 28, 2024 — The University Alliance for Racial Justice (UARJ) has publicly denounced the Cooley Report on the April 2024 Dunn Meadow encampment, labeling it as “sloppy, unsubstantiated, and biased.” The UARJ’s analysis, sent to the Indiana University (IU) Board of Trustees, highlights significant flaws and biases in the report, urging a delay in the consideration of the proposed expressive activity policy.
Opioid settlement fund fuels anti-addiction battle in Indiana
Indiana is stepping up its fight against addiction with a boost from an opioid settlement fund. The money comes from a $54 billion 2021 Opioid Settlement Fund created by manufacturers, distributors and retailers to address their role in the nation’s opioid epidemic. Indiana will receive $508 million from the fund over the next several years.

Reid returns at Greyhounds boys golf coach
Chard Reid is back as the Carmel boys golf coach. The Greyhounds announced Reid’s return to the program earlier this month for what will be his second stint as head coach. Advances in DNA technology are helping victims of suspected serial killer Herb Baumeister be identified more quickly. Dr. Krista Latham, director of the Human Identification Center at the University of Indianapolis, tells WISH-TV how the way they use DNA technology has changed. “It’s not that technology exists today that didn’t exist in the past. It’s just that it’s more sensitive. We’re able to create those DNA profiles from samples that we may not have been able to do so in the past because we can see that DNA,”
