There are a plethora of grocery stores to choose from in North Jersey, but which ones have the best prices?
It may be a difficult question to answer but we tried our best. While searching through the online prices, for hypothetical in-store pickup, our survey looked at five items at five different grocery shops.
All stores are in Bergen County. Every store is also a national grocer except Stew Leonard's which is mostly known as a Northeast branch. Here is what went into the survey.
What stores were used?
The grocery stores that went into this list was Shoprite of Rochelle Park, Trader's Joes in Paramus, Stew Leonard's in Paramus, ACME in Saddle Brook and Stop & Shop in Teaneck.
What foods were used?
The survey used eggs, bread, milk, chicken and bananas.
More specifically a dozen brown eggs, white sliced bread, whole milk and chicken breast were the other items that were selected for the comparison.

Milks were measured by the gallon, except Trader Joe's that did not have a whole milk gallon option and instead 64 ounces (half-gallon), chicken breast was measured by the pound and bananas varied from pound measurement, singular, or bundle because stores measured the prices differently.
All the items that were used in this comparison were the grocery store brand items of each shop. Here are the results after looking at all the various foods available at these locations.
