Temperatures quickly heating up next week
COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) – Calm and dry conditions continue for the rest of our Saturday night with temperatures still feeling pretty warm. Looking ahead into our Sunday the hot conditions continue with heat index values back into the triple digits. We’ll stay sunny and dry with temperatures climbing into the upper 90s for the start of the next work week.
Beachfront Property Purchased in Long Beach
LONG BEACH (GG) — Tuesday, July 30, 2024, city of Long Beach and the Land Trust for the Mississippi Coastal Plain celebrated a $1.9 million purchase for 32 acres of undeveloped beachfront property. The 32 acres is located between Markham and Marcie Drive as this route runs from the train tracks to the beach.
South Mississippi Toy Festival brings hundreds of toy collectors to Hub City
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - The South Mississippi Toy Festival brought hundreds of toy collectors to Hattiesburg. Toy collectors of all ages sorted through a variety of offering, ranging from magnets to action figures. Saturday marked the first year the festival was held in Hattiesburg, and more than 90 vendors participated.

(press release) — NASA’s Stennis Space Center Director John Bailey announced today that longtime propulsion engineer/manager Christine Powell has been selected as deputy director of the south Mississippi propulsion site, effective Aug. 12. Powell is the first woman to be selected as NASA Stennis deputy director.
