Another Nebraska Track and Field athlete has qualified for the upcoming Summer Olympics. Axelina Johansson threw the shotput 18.97m to win the Swedish National Championship and qualify for the Swedish Olympic Team in the upcoming Paris Games this summer.
Johansson is an accomplished athlete for the Cornhuskers. She has finished in third place twice (2022 and 2024) and won the title in 2023  at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
She also finished as a bronze medalist in the shot put in the 2023 European Athletic Team Championship. Johansson finished 13th at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest in August 2023.
The women’s shot put qualifications at the 2024 Paris Olympics on August 8th.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife reported on Wednesday that Puget Sound summer crab-fishing seasons will get underway the first week of July. Crabbing will be closed July 2-3 in Marine Area 4 east of the Bonilla-Tatoosh line and Marine Areas 5, 6, 8-1, 8-2, 9 and a portion of 12 north of a line projected due east from Ayock Point, according to the department. The mother of a Denver homeless man told the City Council Monday that city-sponsored services have failed her son. Barbara Hallick Yeomans made her remarks during public comment period of the City Council meeting. She said her son grapples with substance abuse and mental illness and repeatedly has been harassed by police. She said her son also suffered verbal abuse by a guard in the Denver County Jail. Yeomans said she heard the guard harassing her son over the phone.
