PIAA board makes initial vote to strike health and safety terminology from Competition Formula
Jul. 17—STATE COLLEGE — The PIAA board wants to remove some much-maligned words from its competitive-balance rule, those that prohibited health and safety as grounds for an appeal. Pittsburgh Pet of the Week: Strudel
Strudel is a nine-year-old senior bun who came to us after his bonded partner passed away and they could no longer care for him. He is currently living in a foster home. He loves to be pet, brushed and groomed. He enjoys chewing on cardboard – which is his favorite enrichment activity. Strudel’s vision is impaired, so he does not see too well. He would do well in a home with children 13 and older, who will respect his space. He could live with another rabbit pending a successful meet and greet.

Bethel Park, Butler and Milwaukee, and how MAGA hate persists
I grew up in Peters Township, a suburb of Pittsburgh that buttresses Bethel Park, the community where Donald Trump’s would-be assassin, James Crooks, lived. Bethel Park was a rival to Peters Township in many ways, especially when our sports teams faced each other. We disliked each other when those games occurred. And though there may have been a township line that divided the two communities, in so many ways, Bethel and Peters just blended together. The phrase “A great place to raise a family” comes to mind.

I will never advocate violence
It would seem that, once again, it is time to revisit the topic of gun violence. It has been 12 years since a gunman opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut, killing 20 children and six school staff. Since that time, there have been 189 school shootings with 279 casualties. Those are just school shootings.

2024 Trib HSSN Preseason Football All-Star Team: Imani Christian’s Dayshaun Burnett
A four-star linebacker committed to Penn State, Dayshaun Burnett is one of the premier recruits in the WPIAL entering the 2024 season. The Imani Christian Academy star’s first priority, though, is helping his team advance farther than it did last season. The Saints routed Waynesburg in the first round of the WPIAL Class 2A playoffs but dropped a 17-12 heartbreaker to Mohawk in the quarterfinals.
