PARK CITY, Kan. (KSNW) — After almost four full days of battling a large fire in Park City, firefighters have finally gone home.

A Sedgwick County spokesperson says the last crew left Evergreen Recycle, 53rd Street North and Broadway, around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. She said the debris could be smoldering, but there’s no smoke showing and no risk of it flaring up. The scene is officially closed.

The fire, which included massive piles of dry pallets, broke out on Sunday around 7:30 p.m . Firefighters struggled to put it out, so Sedgwick County ordered a local disaster declaration on Monday, and on Tuesday, the Army National Guard dropped 11,000 gallons of water on the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
