Johnson Sr. planted the first peach tree, which grew to 3,000 trees on 65 acres. In 1980, the Hutton family acquired the farm, expanding it to 5,000 trees and opening the Weatherford Farmers Market. The Huttons, who see the farm as a valuable teaching tool, attribute their peaches' exceptional flavor to the local loamy soil and climate. The festival occurs on July 13 in Historic Downtown Weatherford, attracting visitors nationwide for fresh, tree-ripened peaches.
