Suspect identified following standoff near Pinedale Heights
RAPID CITY, S.D. - An armed suspect has been apprehended by police following a seven-hour standoff near Pinedale Heights. At about 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, law enforcement received reports of gunshots in the area of 5200 Pinedale Circle. The person responsible for the gunshots barricaded himself inside a nearby residence.

South Dakota’s team tied for second place for the sweepstakes award at the 2024 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships. Thirty-five youth representing South Dakota State University Extension 4-H competed at the national championships from June 24-28 in Grand Island, Nebraska. The annual competition drew 708 youth from 40 states to demonstrate their abilities in archery and shooting across multiple disciplines.
