PARLIER, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Kat Echazarreta, the first Mexican-born woman to travel to space, will visit a school in the Parlier Unified School District in late August, officials announced.

According to officials, Echazarreta will visit Parlier High School on Aug. 29. She will visit the school to inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

“Echazarreta’s journey to the stars is a testament to the power of dreams and the limitless possibilities of STEM education,” said officials with the school district in a social media post.

According to officials, Echazerreta worked on five NASA missions, including the Perseverance rover and Europa Clipper.
