West Hills district introduces new chancellor with meet-and-greet
West Hills Community College District introduced Dr. Robert Pimentel as the district's newest chancellor in a meet-and-greet event on the Lemoore College campus Friday. Pimentel was formally introduced on Aug. 16 to students and staff that attended the event. Pimentel formerly worked for the college when it was known as West Hills College Lemoore. The campus, along with Coalinga College, were renamed earlier this year to prevent confusion. Coalinga College was formerly West Hills College Coalinga.

Man sentenced for helping kidnap and torture Clovis teenager in 2016
The man who pleaded guilty to helping abduct and torture a 13-year-old Clovis girl now knows his punishment.Miguel Carriedo was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.That crime happened back in February of 2016.The girl was walking home from school when a group shoved her in a trunk and drove her to a remote part of Fresno County.Prosecutors say they assaulted her and left her tied to a tree.In March, Sandra Garcia was sentenced to life in prison for recruiting her two sons and a cousin to kidnap the girl.The teen was her then-boyfriend's daughter, and Garcia was upset after he evicted her.Miguel Carriedo was the cousin involved.

Man hospitalized after knife attack outside Fresno apartment complex, police say
A man was hospitalized after he was attacked by a suspect with a knife in central Fresno on Friday night.The attack happened outside an apartment complex near Dakota and Crystal.Fresno police say the victim was getting out of his vehicle when he was approached by a man who is possibly unhoused.Officials say the suspect pulled out a knife and cut the man on his back and the side of his face.The suspect ran away after the attack and has not yet been identified.The victim was taken to the hospital to have his injuries treated.Anyone with information about this attack is asked to call the Fresno Police Department.Stay with Action News for the latest updates on this developing story.
