Our climate isn’t conducive to an alligator habitat, mostly. The warm springs near Hagerman have hosted the reptiles. The animals can also survive a cold snap, by slowing metabolism and floating with their noses above water or ice.
Durkee Fire 30% contained, but megafire is already 'huge devastation' for ranchers
BAKER COUNTY, Ore. — On Saturday, wildfires continued to burn across the United State, with the majority concentrated in Oregon, and the largest still the Durkee Fire. Officials say it’s near 290,000 acres in size, with a perimeter of 169 miles. However, crews have made progress, and said it is nearly 30% contained.
Hundreds of dead fish discovered in American Falls Reservoir
Idaho Fish and Game Fisheries biologists and Idaho Department of Environmental Quality(DEQ) staff responded to calls on Friday, July 26 about a possible “fish kill” in the American Falls Reservoir. According to a news release from Idaho Fish and Game, there were about 250 dead rainbow trout found on the shoreline. It is unclear how many total there are in the reservoir.
